Today is an exciting day. We are happy to announce that the latest generation of Intel Core CPUs – the 12th gen – are available for pre-order in our systems. There is a lot to look forward to with Intel’s latest processors, so let’s take a look at some of the features coming your way with the new generation of Intel Core desktop processors.
12th gen Intel Core CPUs deliver incredible performance, without compromise. 12th gen CPUs are powered by Intel’s new performance hybrid architecture. This architecture combines performance cores (P-cores) and Efficient-cores (E-cores) to deliver balanced single-thread and multi-threaded real-world performance. L3 and L2 cache has been increased in size to deliver large memory capacity and reduced latency for fast game loading and smooth frame rates. What does this mean for you, the user? Simply put, all of this helps boost your PC to get performance while using less power. Take that, power bill!
Working behind the scenes to ensure maximum performance from these ‘P’ and ‘E’ cores, is Intel’s Thread Director. This is built directly into the hardware and provides instructions that make sure the right thread is in the right core, at the right time. Essentially, workloads are optimized by being intelligently distributed to the optimal cores. So CPU intensive tasks, like say playing your favorite AAA games, would be given the highest priority on the high powered performance cores. Meanwhile, background programs, such as the ones you are currently not interacting with, will be prioritized on the efficient cores. Overall, an efficient thread director is very helpful. If you are running multiple demanding programs at once, for example playing your favorite game and streaming it at the same time, thread director ensures minimal stuttering and lag on these applications. This is all on top of Intel’s familiar Turbo Boost Max technology 3.0., which identifies the processors fastest cores and directs workloads to those. Exciting stuff, but there’s plenty more to get excited about. Let’s take a look at some more key features coming to 12th gen powered systems.
DDR5 is here. An industry-first support for the latest high speed memory means enhanced workflow, productivity, and of course, gaming performance. 12th Gen Intel CPUs will support DDR5 memory up to 4800 MT/s. Keep in mind 12th gen Intel CPUs also support the familiar DDR4 memory modules as well, up to 3200 MT/s. For the performance junkie, things get even better. When paired with the latest Z690 chipset; P-cores, E-cores, graphics, and memory can all be set to run at frequencies above the processor specification resulting in even higher performance. But the speed doesn’t stop there. 12th Gen Intel CPUs also support PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 technology. For the former, up to 16 lanes offers readiness for up to 32 GT/s for fast access to peripheral devices and networking. For the latter, up to 4 lanes offers readiness for up to 16 GT/s.
There’s plenty more to talk about when it comes to 12th Gen Intel Core CPU features.
