The White Wolf of The Witcher Series, Geralt of Rivia, is coming to Soul Calibur 6 as announced by Bandai Namco and CD Projekt Red.
It was early in March that CD Projekt Red teased about the news on Twitter. They posted that Geralt might appear somewhere else besides The Witcher game. According to the announcement, Geralt will keep his “signature-fighting style” in Soul Calibur 6. This means Geralt will be able to use a “combination of swordplay, ability-enhancing potions, and magic spells” like the Igni the fire spell and Aard his knockback spell.
CD Projekt Red collaborated with the artists from Bandai Namco to faithfully create Geralt and shared original assets from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt like Geralt’s model, weapons, and animations. Also, an arena based on The Witcher series will also be added the game — the training grounds at Kaer Morhen. Doug Cockle, the English actor, also returns to lend his voice to the Geralt’s role in the fighting game.
In regards to the collaboration, CD Projekt Red community lead Marcin Momot has only good things to say about Bandai Namco. According to him, the Japanese video game development company did an outstanding job of capturing all of Geralt’s details and introducing his character to the Soul Calibur universe in a way that fans of both games will surely enjoy.
Aside from Geralt, returning characters like Ivy and Zasalamel will be featured in the game. These include Kilik, Xianghua, and a newcomer named Groh.
Soul Calibur 6 is set to be released this year on PS4, XBox One, and gaming PCs.
