Publisher EA finally released Battlefield V’s debut trailer during a live stream reveal event last week. The trailer was intense as one would expect from DICE; delivering plenty of explosions, death, destruction, and fast-paced action.
The reveal trailer also confirmed that the game will take place in World War II, having the same setting as the original game Battlefield 1945. It also revealed that this latest installment will focus on the “unseen locations” from the war, such as the ruins of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and the Norway north of the Arctic Circle.

As seen in the video, the new gameplay was introduced, giving the players the ability to drag downed squadmates to safety and revive them. Players can also go prone on one’s back, crawl backward and slide down hills while firing. Such elements make it clear that teamwork is vital in this game, as it can generate squad points which can help your team win.
Aside from these new elements, the game has also seemed to have an animation system overhaul, allowing players to actually see the shockwaves impacting their surrounding. A revised destruction system was also added, allowing players to push through more massive objects, with each weapon creating different holes and splinters when penetrating stationary objects.
EA also noted that players can expect a lot of personalized weapons and vehicles in the game. They mentioned the various customization options available in the game, which can be earned throughout the campaign.
“Battlefield 5 is a homecoming for DICE as a studio, a return to the era that came to define the Battlefield franchise,” said the General Manager EA Dice, Oskar Gabrielson. “But as nostalgic as we are about World War 2, we wanted to challenge the preconception of the era with an unexpected portrayal of this familiar setting.”
“Our vision with Battlefield V is to let players explore new and untold sides of the conflict that shaped the modern world. The scale of each battle and level of immersion is unlike anything we’ve done before in Battlefield and players are in for an epic journey.”
Battlefield V is scheduled for release on October 19 for PlayStation 4, XBox One, Windows PCs and gaming laptops. A trial version of the game will be available to Origin and EA Access members starting October 11, while a deluxe edition will follow on October 16.
