FaZe Clan’s Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Dennis “Cloak” Lepore are quickly becoming the most feared duo in competitive Fortnite. They’ve won a record four Fortnite Friday tournaments, and just this Sunday, they’ve done it again, winning Nerdout’s Anything Goes $20,000 tournament in dominant fashion.
They topped the duo team of Vikram “Vikkstar123” Barn and Erikas “ErycTriceps” Vaitkevicius in the grand finals, winning by a staggering 10 kills. Vikkstar and Erikas put up a good fight, but in the end, FaZe’s precise rotations and raw slaying power were too much to handle.
In fact, Tfue and Cloak were so good this tournament that they didn’t drop a single game, going a perfect 6-0. In addition, they got over 25 kills every match, even dropping a ridiculous 54 kills in the winner bracket quarterfinals.
The only close game came in the 2nd round, in which the FaZe duo faced off against Twitch superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and his former C9 teammate Jacob “Hysteria” Reiser. Both teams went back and forth, but FaZe gained the upper hand when Cloak sabotaged one of the ramps Ninja was building, causing him to die from fall damage. In the end, Tfue and Cloak won 39-35. Cloak’s play wasn’t illegal because Nerdout’s tournament has no rules against sabotage, as indicated by the “Anything Goes” phrase in its name.
Nerdout’s no rule format actually brought out a whole new array of interesting strategies, as it differs greatly from Fortnite Friday’s strict rules against sabotage. Many other duos throughout the tournament used various means such as impulse grenades to kill their opponents, launching them off cliffs and inducing critical fall damage.
Some of the other teams that did well in Nerdout’s Tournament include FaZe’s other duo team, “Spacelyon” and “Tennp0” (3rd place), “Svenoss” and “Tinny” (4th place), and “NickEh30” and “Prohenis“. But for now, FaZe Tfue and FaZe Cloak remain the kings of competitive Fortnite.
