Harmonix, the game developer of many popular music video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, is currently working on a new rhythm shooter game for VR called Audica.

The announcement came via Twitter alongside the release of the game’s official website. According to Harmonix, Audica is a VR rhythm shooter game which combines their award-winning music gameplay with an all-new precision shooting mechanics and a killer soundtrack, all set in a futuristic cosmic arena.

Audica is said to be released through Early Access on gaming computers or consoles with Oculus Rift and Steam VR on March 7, 2019.

In the game, the player will be armed with two rhythm blasters which he can use to shoot and smash targets to the beat of a soundtrack. The better the timing and accuracy, the more score the player will have. It is an intuitive and immersive game that will test your accuracy and timing.

Alex Rigopulos, the co-founder of Harmonix, stated that Audica was created because they wanted to create a world that simultaneously evokes music and sound as a sense of place.

Aside from the game’s announcement, Harmonix also released Audica’s reveal trailer. According to them, Audica will focus on electronic music and will feature 10 songs upon its Early Access including Splinter by Savant, The Space by James Egbert, and I Want U by Alison Wonderland.

Harmonix is targeting a full release of the game by the end of 2019 and hopes to expand the game to other VR platforms like PlayStation VR and Oculus Quest.
