HTC’s latest VR headset is almost here. Set to release on October 3, the HTC Vive Cosmos will be available for $699. And the good news is, anyone interested in the Vive Cosmos VR headset can now preorder it on Amazon.

The Vive Cosmos will feature several improvements over the original Vive hardware. One selling point of the Vive Cosmos is that it doesn’t require any external sensors to operate. It’s because all of its tracking cameras are already installed on the headset.

The new VR headset also boasts an upgraded LCD panel that offers 2800 x 1700 combined resolution, with a 90 Hz refresh rate. It also features an ergonomic design similar to the PlayStation VR but comes with built-in headphones. The wearer can also easily flip up the display of the headset, without the need to take the device off his head.

Last but not least, the HTC Vive Cosmos has a modular faceplate. This means that you can easily swap it out with updated hardware in the future.

HTC also confirmed that those who preorder the headset will get a 12-month subscription to Viveport Infinity, which grants unlimited access to a library of VR apps, videos, and games.

Vive Cosmos will also be compatible with the new Vive Wireless Adapter designed for gaming PC.
