CD Projekt Red, the developers of The Witcher game, will be releasing their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 this year. As announced, the game will be launched for current generation consoles including Microsoft Windows gaming PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. But that doesn’t mean that the developers have completely forgotten about the next-gen hardware.

A fan who goes by the Reddit name user Astro4545 posted a screenshot of a private message correspondence he had with CD Projekt Red on Twitter. In it, the user asked the developer if Cyberpunk 2077 will be a cross-gen game since PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are both expected to launch this year.

CD Projekt Red responded that it is possible. However, as of the moment, their main focus is on the current generation of consoles.

The studio has not posted an official statement about the matter yet. There have been speculations and rumors since last year that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a cross-gen game. However, the developers said that they do not have any comments regarding the topic.

But it is possible, especially since Nvidia has already partnered with CD Projekt Red for game’s ray tracing technology. And apparently, ray tracing is one of the main features that the next-gen consoles will have, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
