The Call of Duty 2020 game is confirmed to be titled Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. As previously reported by news websites, the game’s storyline will take place during the Cold War. The geopolitical conflict started between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

The Cold War started from 1947 to 1991 that spans the Truman Doctrine to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The conflict started because of the ideological and geopolitical struggles for global influence by the two powerful countries.

Call of Duty posted an unlisted trailer that features real video footage from the Cold War era. It comes with a voiceover from the KGB defector, Yuri Bezmenov, explaining the tools and weapons used in fighting during the Cold War.

The trailer then ends with the words Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, confirming the title of the upcoming game.

According to Activision, Black Ops Cold War is developed by Treyarch and Raven. It was also reported before that the 2020 game would be set during the Cold War.

Activision only started teasing the new Call of Duty game, despite repeatedly assuring the fans that a new shooter video game was going to be released in 2020. Last month, the publisher sent out mysterious slideshow projectors, which led the community on an alternate reality game that uncovers a mysterious website. It played news clips from the 1960s. The time of those clips ultimately confirmed the Cold War setting, alongside the new trailer.

Activision also embedded a few teasers for Black Ops: Cold War into the current Call of Duty: Warzone. The publisher also confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will also feature the popular free-to-play Warzone mode.

COD Black Ops Cold War is expected to be released before the year ends. It will probably be launched for next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well as for Microsoft Windows gaming PC.
