Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War brings new maps and modes as part of its Season One Major Update. Unlike normal updates, these updates come in parts and are continuously being added to the game, bringing excitement to the players.
The first part of the update includes a new melee weapon, a new multiplayer map, and two-new maps for the PlayStation-exclusive game mode called Onslaught. New multiplayer modes and Zombies were also added to the game.
The second part of the Major Update will arrive in the game on February 4. This update includes the fan-favorite map called the “Empress,” which was featured before in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
But for now, let’s talk about the added features and weapons that are already in the game. The new melee weapon is called the Wakizashi, a katana-type melee weapon that comes as an in-game challenge unlockable and blueprint. Players can purchase its blueprint in the game’s Disavowed Assassin bundle.
A new multiplayer map is also added in the game called Sanatorium. In this map, there will be ten squads of four teams with a goal to head up to the Ural Plains as they fight for objectives and vehicles. For the new mode, it is called the “Dropkick.” The developer, Treyarch, described it as a frantic mode wherein two teams fight for control over a very important briefcase.
Another game mode is introduced in the Zombie gameplay. It is called Cranked, wherein players must fight against zombies while racing against time that requires them to kill one enemy within a time limit.
Last but not least, there is a new map in the Onslaught mode, a PlayStation-exclusive. The map takes place in Los Angeles, wherein the players are taken into a mansion overrun by hordes of zombies.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13 for gaming PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. It is also available in the next-gen consoles, including Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5.
