Remedy Announces Control Multiplayer Spinoff

Remedy has announced that its 2019’s third-person shooter game, Control, is getting a multiplayer spinoff game. The spinoff game has a codename called “Condor” and is said to be a four-player co-op game.

Condor will feature players vs. environment setup. The game is currently being developed by Remedy’s own proprietary engine called Northlight, which is what Remedy used to create Control. The details about this new game were discussed by Remedy in their press release.

As stated in the press release, Remedy explained that they are developing Condor with 505 Games. For those who are not aware, Remedy also worked with 505 Games to publish Control back in 2019. 505 Games has also published popular games like the Ghost Runner, Journey to the Savage Planet, and Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding PC port.

Remedy also explained that Condor’s initial development will be 25 million euros, which is an amount that will be split between Remedy and 505 Games. This budget is almost the same as the reported budget of Control, which was said to be less than 30 million euros as told by Remedy CEO Tero Virtala.

There is also news that Remedy and 505 Games are making high-level plans for a new bigger budget that is set in the Control universe. It is also said that Remedy is currently working on six games which include two that are set in the Control universe. There is also an unrevealed free-to-play co-op game which is said to be called Vanguard.

The Game Director of Control, Mikael Kasurinen, said that the world of Control still has many different stories to tell. And while Remedy is known for developing single-player games, they had a long history of playing and loving multiplayer games. Kasurinen also explained that their team can create shared experiences without compromising the studio’s identity and what they are known for. He also shared that their team needs to rethink their angles, techniques, and mindset as they develop a multiplayer game set in Control’s universe.

It is possible that the new game, Condor, will be released on next-gen consoles and on gaming pc as it was for Control.
