Square Enix is one of my favorite developer with a large library of great games. The DioField Chronicle is their all-new strategy/RPG that immerses players in an epic tale of war and honor. This game will be a fresh new franchise developed in conjunction with Lancarse Ltd.
It also features unique character designs by Taiki (Lord of Vermilion III, IV), concept art by Isamu Kamikokuryo (Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XIII) and has beautifully orchestrated music by world-renowned composers Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell, known best for their work on Game of Thrones.
The DioField Chronicle is set in a beautiful and unique world blending fantasy, medieval elements, and modern-day influences. Under the steady hand of the Shaytham dynasty, the Kingdom of Alletain on DioField Island has known peace for 200 years but suddenly find themselves cast into an age of uncertainty due to the rise of warlike powers and modern magic.
This vast world features the Kingdom of Alletain, which is rich in the mineral Jade, prized for its use as a base ingredient in magic and sorcery, and catches the attention of both the Empire and the Alliance. Players will take control of a band of elite mercenaries calling themselves “Blue Fox.” However, will the name “Blue Fox” come to signify hope or darkest tragedy?
Square Enix announced a free consumer demo for The DioField Chronicle is now available for the PC (Steam), so get your gaming PCs ready for action. Players can now experience the all-new strategy RPG that immerses players in an epic tale of struggle. All progress made in the demo, including save data, game progress and character levels will be able to be carried over to the full game at launch.
The game’s demo sets the stage as DioField Island suddenly finds itself cast into an age of uncertainty due to the rise of warlike powers and modern magic. Players can experience the entirety of Chapter 1, which includes fast-paced action-packed combat utilizing small squads consisting of various unit types with unique battlefield roles in a sprawling campaign.
You can begin your military campaign now and play the opening chapter of the game while meeting and strategizing with the Blue Fox Mercenaries. You’ll also experience a Real Time Tactical Battle (RTTB) – a new, deeply strategic, real-time battle system.
Pre-orders are now available for PC (Steam). The Collector’s Edition Set is also available for pre-order exclusively at the Square Enix Store in limited quantities. This set comes with the standard edition game package and the Collector’s Goods Box, which contains The DioField Chronicle Board Game and a Four Pins Set.
As mentioned, this is a deeply strategic RPG that is set in a world of honor and political intrigue. Over the course of a compelling and deep story, you’ll direct your units through multiple combat encounters using the ‘Real-Time Tactical Battle’ (RTTB) system.
As RTTB implies, combat takes place in real-time – you can pause the game to give orders and survey the battlefield, but the world and enemies won’t sit still and wait for your troops to take their turns. That means that you’ll have to carefully assess front line conditions, be decisive with your orders and make smart use of a wide variety of skills, classes and equipment to be victorious.
And, of course, this all takes place on stunning battlefields that fuse fantasy and reality, and also give the game a distinct and beautiful visual style.
The DioField Chronicle is coming PC (Steam) on September 22, 2022.
