Finnish game developer, Remedy Entertainment, confirms the development of Control 2. It will be the sequel game to the award-winning game Control and will be released for Windows gaming PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
In Remedy Entertainment’s blog post, the company with 505 Games is currently working on and co-publishing the game. In fact, it was being developed as Codename Heron, which many thought to be a spin-off game of Control.
Game Development
According to developers, Control 2 will take another leap into the unknown. Its game director, Mikael Kasurinen, says it is the most exciting project they have ever worked on, and the sequel will feature an unexpected journey. Kasurinen also shared that while it’s still in its early stage of development, Control 2 will definitely be worth the wait.
Control 2 is said to have an estimated budget of €50 million or $52 million, which is higher than the original game’s budget of $30 million. One can note that the budget for Control 2 isn’t far from that of big games such as The Witcher 3, which costs $81 million.
Release Date
Early this month, Remedy Entertainment released a statement saying that Control 2 is still in its concept stage. This means the game has just entered its active development and is likely to take years before its release.
To top it all up, it isn’t the only game Remedy Entertainment is currently developing. There is also another game with the codename “Condor.” It is said to be an upcoming four-player co-op PvE title first announced in the summer of 2021.
All further details have yet to be confirmed by the company when the game will be released. It may take a year or two before we get the final date of its launch.
