Nominees for The Game Awards 2014 are announced

The VGX, formerly Spike Video Game Awards, is an annual award show hosted by Spike TV that recognizes the best computer and video games of the year. It features live music performances and appearances by popular performers in music, movies, and television. Additionally, preview trailers for upcoming games are highlighted. The show is produced by GameTrailers TV’s video game journalist/ presenter Geoff Keighley. The event has been held at various locations in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, California as well as Las Vegas, Nevada.

And this year, Geoff Keighley will be producing The Game Awards 2014 independently without the involvement of Spike TV. From the nomination list below, we can see that besides some common awards such as “Game of The Year”, “Best Indie Game”, “Best Narrative”, there is also the presence of a “Most Anticipated Game” honor and trailers announcing new games; at the same time it also features some unique categories that look to highlight more of what’s going on in video game culture these days, such as “Trending Gamer,” “eSports Team of the Year” and “Best Fan Creation.”

In addition to rewarding publishers and developers, The Game Awards will also recognize fans and gamers around the world, including eSports players. People can vote for their favorites in a number of fan voted categories including Most Anticipated Game.

The winners will be revealed on December 5 at the AXIS Theater in Las Vegas.
