Two weeks ago, we wrote an article about the top 10 most used DOTA 2 heroes and the reasons behind why MOBA players enjoy using them. This week though, let’s discuss a new set of characters from a different MOBA game which rivals DOTA 2 in its popularity, Riot’s League of Legends. Similar to DOTA 2, League of Legends is a free-to-play MOBA game that was inspired by DOTA and WarCraft III: Frozen Throne. This game is basically one of the reasons why MOBA players wants a gaming PC with its artistic maps and graphics.
League of Legends’ is a teamplay consisting of two teams with 5 members. Each player carries out different role in the map, and can choose a champion to his liking. The goal is as similar to DOTA 2 and that is to destroy the the opposing team’s nexus by killing of the enemies’ champions and destroying their defense towers. As of now, League of Legends has 123 champions and it’s still growing as they continue to add new and exciting champions to the Summoner’s Rift.
And through the help of LOLKING.net’s chart, we’ve managed to know the top 10 champions most LOL players used in their games.
1. Vayne, The Night Hunter
Vayne with it’s overpowered W, E and R can prettily end the game fast when feed by the enemy team. Known to be one of the most popular ADR (attack damage range) dealer, most ADR players dreamt of understanding the right combos that will make her unstoppable. Her third skill, Condemn, lets you stun the enemy when pushed back into a terrain then harass him with her ultimate skill, followed by her 2nd skill until you put him to his death.
2. Lee Sin, The Blind Monk
Lee Sin may be a blind a monk but is one of the scariest junglers when build correctly with the right items. Once you have upgraded his Tracker’s Knife to Enchanment: Warrior, make sure to follow up items such as Dead Man’s Plate, Black Cleaver and Ravenous Hydra. His 2nd skill Lifeguard is best used in saving an ally who is being ganked. His ultimate skill Dragon Rage, on the other hand, can turn around the course of a surprised gank by sending a powerful roundhouse kick to the enemy champion sending him backwards.
3. Ezreal, The Prodigal Explorer
Build him as an ADC (attack damage carry) and watch him own the game. With his 3rd skill Arcane Shift, he will let no enemy escape as he teleports near him and shot him with a homing bolt. His first skill, Mystic Shot, lets you fire a bolt of energy dealing immense damage. While his ultimate skill, Trueshot Barrage, is great during clash as it fires a big bolt of energy that deals damage to each unit it passes through.
4. Yasuo, The Unforgiven
Yasuo is a versatile champion who can play either top solo or in mid lane. His passive, Way of Wanderer, makes double his critical chance. His skills includes Steel of Tempest which allows to deal immense physical damage, Wind Wall which blocks all enemy projectiles and attacks, Swipping Blade which lets him dash through his target while dealing damage and his last skill which is the Last Breath, that lets him blink to enemies during clash, throw them into the air while dealing 200/300/400 physical damage.
5. Lucian, the Purifier
Lucian is a bot laner that plays the role of an ADR similar to Vayne. His ultimate skill The Culling is a versatile skill that lets move freely while firing rapidly in single direction, dealing damage. His first and second skill, Piercing Light and Ardent Blaze, are great in bullying the enemy’s duo lane at early games, denying them the opportunity to kill any minions and level up easily.
6. Zed, The Master of Shadows
Zed is a powerful top laner that can play solo queue pretty well as long as the player knows his correct skill combos. Build him items that increases attack damage and watch him wipe the enemy’s team, start up with Long Sword then follow it The Black Cleaver, Maw of Malmortius, Blade of the Ruined King and Yoomu’s Ghostblade. Zed’s first and second skill, Razor Shuriken and Living Shadow, makes him untouchable during early game while dealing damage to his opponent. While his third and ultimate skill, Shadow Slash and Death Mark, are the perfect killing combo.
7. Thresh, The Chain Warden
Thresh is a tank support that can aid his ADR to be a legendary champion. His Death Sentence lets him grab an enemy early in the game while dealing damage, and letting his duo harass his catch. His 2nd skill, the Dark Passage, on the other hand, creates a shield granting lantern than an ally champion can use to go near him. Flay, his third skill, brings damage while either pushing his enemies near him or away from him which is very usable in clashes. And lastly, his ultimate skill, The Box, lets him trap enemy champions inside a wall.
8. Miss Fortune, The Bounty Hunter
Another lady-killer in the list, Miss Fortune acts as an ADR and plays in the bot lane along with a support. One of the easiest champion to memorized, MF’s skills are best used to harass the enemy bot lane in early game with her first skill, Double Up, that bounces the bullets she shots, and her 2nd skill, Make It Rain, that lets her reveal an area where bullets rain down dealing damage. Her last skill is quite similar to Lucian, where she channels a barrage of bullets for 3 seconds. Unlike Lucian though, she must remain immobile while channeling her ultimate skill.
9. Blitzcrank, The Great Steam Golem
Baymax, I mean Blitzcrank is who as adorable as Baymax is a tank and support bot laner that can initiate a clash during the late game. Oh, and did I mention his third skill is similar to Baymax attack, his Super Fist, charges his fist to an enemy dealing physical damage. His first is Rocket Grab which lets him fires his right hand and grab the closest enemy, and pulls it to himself. Overdrive, his second skill, adds movement speed, while his ultimate skill, the Static Field, is a powerful attack that deals 250/375/500 (+1*AP) magic damage and silenced any surrounding enemy units for 5 seconds.
10. Bard, The Wandering Caretaker
Bard is another adorable creature from League of Legends’ myth and story. Also known as the Wandering Caretaker, no one exactly knows where Bard came from. His immense support skills are great for clashes, either as an initiator or disabler. His ultimate skill, Tempered Fate, sends a magical energy arcing to a target location, making all minions, monsters and enemy champions in the area in static and unable to act for 2.5 seconds. Cosmic Binding, lets Bard fires an energy bolt dealing damage, while his 2nd skill, Caretaker Shine, raises a health shrine that restores health. Bard’s third skill, Magical Journey, let him opens a one-way corridor through nearby terrain where enemies and allies can cross over.
