“We’re thrilled that such an incredible number of players from around the globe got a chance to check out Overwatch during the open beta,” said Mike Morhaime, chief executive officer and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment during their press release. “Our mission was to make sure as many console and PC gamers as possible could experience the full game ahead of its launch — the response was overwhelming, and we hope that everyone had a blast.”
In Overwatch, players can choose one of the 21 heroes equipped with extraordinary arsenals and weapons, combined with their amazing abilities. Each character in the game come in four varieties: offense, tank, support, and defense. Offense characters are the damage dealers in the team. Defense can control the battlefield, fortify the locations and interrupt enemy attacks. Tanks, on the other hand, have durable armors and can soak damage for the team while offense characters attack. Lastly, support heroes empower their allies and shield them, while boosting their enemies skill.
As of now, Overwatch has four main game modes which include a hybrid of assault and escort. Each match begins with the players picking their respective hero. The team should consider the map and counter the enemy team heroes. The game ends when one team fulfills the map’s victory condition. So if you’re looking for a new and interesting online first-shooter multiplayer game to try and play on your gaming laptop or PC then Overwatch is the perfect video game to try.
