Larian Studios has announced that its long-awaited RPG video game, Baldur’s Gate, will first launch in early access before this year ends.
This isn’t the first time the developers released one of its expansive RPG in early access. For example, the Divinity: Original Sin 2 was first released in early access during 2016, and then was fully launched a year after.
During its early access, Larian only had the prologue, first chapter, and a transition available for gamers to play. After its full release, Larian continued to release on-going updates and then developed a Definitive Edition that was launched in 2018.
It is possible that the developers will do the same thing on Baldur’s Gate early access. But Larian, together with Hasbro, made no further statements regarding the amount of the content that will be released in the early access period.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was first announced last year with a haunting cinematic trailer that features the Flaming Fist. It showed how a graphic transformation of the Flaming Fist into an unknown Illithid or Mind Flayer, who looks like squid beings that feed on the brains of the living.
There isn’t an official release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 yet, but Laurian confirmed that the game will be released on Google Stadia console and Microsoft Windows gaming PC.
