During the Blizzcon 2019, Blizzard made a surprising announcement, and that is the development of Overwatch 2. It is going to be the sequel to their popular team-based shooting game, Overwatch.

The first game was released in May 2016 and became a massive hit all over the world. Over three years, Blizzard has continued to expand the game by releasing new heroes, game maps, modes, and events.

Overwatch 2 is said to add an actual story mode in the game. This means that the sequel will further expand the lore that Blizzard was building for Overwatch.

According to the developers, Overwatch 2 is set after the released variety of short films of the game. In its teaser, we also get to see the Overwatch heroes fighting against the Null Sector.

However, unlike the original game, Overwatch 2 will primarily focus on cooperative PvE content. Instead of fighting against other players, the sequel will placed players to battle against a multitude of computer enemies in story levels and hero missions.

Overwatch 2 will still feature the PvP modes and maps, and will also introduce a new core called Push mode. Further on, new maps and heroes will be added along the way.

Blizzard also promises to show a brand new visual style for the sequel. Two new heroes, called Echo and Sojourn, are going to be introduced as well. Furthermore, the company confirmed that Overwatch 2 will have a shared multiplayer environment where current Overwatch players can play against Overwatch 2 players.

No further details were announced as to when Overwatch 2 will be released. But the game is currently in development and is designed to be released for Xbox One, PS4, and Microsoft Windows gaming PC.
