2K Games proudly announced that their latest shooter game, Borderlands 3, has sold over five million copies worldwide during its first five days in the market. This makes Borderlands 3 the fastest-selling game in the company’s history.
It also means that the latest installment of Borderlands has worked out 50% more sales than its predecessor during the same launch window.
The sales came as a surprise for the developer, especially after receiving backlash from fans when they announced that Borderlands 3 would be an Epic Games exclusive. The sales record actually drew attention to store figures as well, breaking pre-order records in the Epic Games Store.

As the developers put it, the initial sales of Borderlands 3 have exceeded their expectations. The PC sales of the title through the Epic Games Store has been strong as well, with over 70% of the game’s sales were digital.
The game has also consistently pulled views over on Twitch. 2K even reported that the title generated more than 14 million hours of content on the popular streaming platform. And this happens to be just half of the viewership Borderlands 2 has made over the past two years.
Borderlands 3 is the fourth installment in the Borderlands series. It was released last September 13 for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A version for Google Stadia will also be confirmed for a later release date.
