Codemasters Studio, the developer and publisher behind hit racing video games for gaming PC like Dirt and F1, has expanded their company. They announced the acquisition of Slightly Mad Studios, the developer and owner of the Project CARS franchise.
Slightly Mad Studios was established way back in 2009, and have developed known games such as Need for Speed Shift. They also worked for Rombax Games by developing Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends. After that, the studio then decided to invest their efforts in developing their own franchise, which is Project CARS.
Codemasters CEO Frank Sagnier explained in an interview how he’s delighted to bring such an amazing racing game developer to their company. He also wishes that the acquisition will further establish their company as a global powerhouse in the development of racing titles.
Sagnier also shared that since Codemasters and Slightly Mad Studios have the same passion and vision, their partnership will further accelerate the growth of the two companies. And with more streaming services coming next year, Sagnier sees that this the perfect time for both companies to take their next steps.
Ian Bell from Slightly Mad Studios believes that with their combined racing games portfolio, both companies will be able to learn from each other and take advantage of the new emerging platforms. He also added that their team is excited to be joining Codemasters, and can’t wait to build a relationship based on creativity and the passion for creating new racing experiences to the gaming community.
