After its acquisition by FoxNext Games, the California-based video game development company Cold Iron Studios is said to be developing a new title game set in the Alien cinematic universe.
According to an official announcement released by FoxNext Games, it will be a shooter game for gaming PCs.
For those who aren’t familiar with Cold Iron Studios, the company actually hasn’t released a game yet. However, it presents a strong pedigree because it was established by ex-Cryptic Studio veterans. These are developers who have worked on successful games like City of Heroes and Star Trek Online. The studio also has talents who have experience working on futuristic-fantasy games like Borderlands, Doom, and BioShock Infinite.
The video game company is currently being led by CEO Craig Zinkievich, who also talked about his excitement for the new Alien game.
“We are thrilled about the opportunity to explore an amazing and rich universe,” Zinkievich said. “…and we can’t wait to share more information soon.”
FoxNext Games, on the other hand, have also released a statement about its plan to Cold Iron Studios.
“Cold Iron adds a whole dimension of game development,” FoxNext Games President Aaron Loeb said in an interview with Games Industry Biz. “The kind of games they develop will enable us to deeply explore our franchises, starting with Alien.”
Loeb also said that the acquisition of Cold Iron Studio was also a part of Fox Next Games to make the game an important part of their parent company’s venture. As we all know that Fox Next Games is the interactive arm of the entertainment 20th Century Fox.
