Conan Exiles Updated Review

Conan Exiles
Funcom

Conan Exiles has been moving from strength to strength ever since its debut back in 2018 (not counting its Early Access period). Funcom has been adding not only tons of free updates and valuable content, they’ve also been releasing DLC packs that are cosmetic-only and reflect the different cultures within Robert E. Howard’s Hyborian universe.

I’ve covered these packs in the past, and since I haven’t for a while I thought that it would be a great time to review the latest ones.

Blood and Sand Pack

The Blood and Sand Pack introduces new vaulted tunnels and arenas for gladiator-style showdowns. You can decorate your arenas with different types of banners, gates, and other placeables. It also takes advantage of the latest two-handed axes and short swords by getting your hands on five unique versions of each.

There are some really cool-looking new armor sets, including Bear Shaman, Assassin, and Barbarian-themed version in light, medium, and heavy. There are also 19 new Bloodletter set weapons that will definitely please those who like sharp-looking things.

This pack really fits in with the brutal and relentless world of the Exiled Lands.

Debaucheries of Derketo Pack

Debaucheries of Derketo Pack is a very sensual-themed pack that lets you give in to your more carnal desires, hence the “debaucheries” part. Probably the most exciting thing about this pack (for me at least) is the ability for you to build rope bridges and platforms for your very own tree bases. You can also construct stages for performers to dance and entertain people on as well as taverns which you can decorate with all kinds of new placeables.

This pack also comes with new armor pieces, but the new wardrobe and lustful-style body paints are the stars of the show. The new skimpy outfits are sure to seduce even the most cold-hearted warrior. These are just fantastic for all the role-players out there, as are the new emotes that express anger, fun, drinking, and the like.

Riders of Hyboria Pack

Fresh on the heels of the new, free mounts update that Funcom so kindly introduced to Conan Exiles comes the Riders of Hyboria Pack. Not surprisingly, this cavalry-themed pack lets you build and outfit new stables for your new horseys, so that you can show off to your friends. You can also have white and black horses and outfit them with six different types of saddle sets for that unique look.

There are also new light, medium, and heavy sets of armor, such as the Poitain Cavalier and Campaign armors, as well new weapon types including lances for skewering your foes from horseback.

As with all Conan Exiles DLC, none of these are pay-to-win. In other words, purchasing them gives new visual options but does not give any in-game advantage in power. All of the new items have comparable stats to existing items.

Conan Exiles continues to grow as a great survival-crafting IP and I’m really looking forward to the next big update. Hopefully, Funcom will bless the game with sorcery mechanics in the not-so-distant future, and maybe some form of bustling towns and cities full of NPCs.

OVERALL SCORE: 86%

Conan Exiles has some pretty good looking graphics that make its fantasy survival gameplay truly shine. However, you want to have a pretty beefy gaming PC or gaming laptop in order to play it at a decent framerate. So, you may just want to invest in a decent gaming rig:
