Control Ultimate Edition Gets Next-Gen Upgrade

Remedy Entertainment announces that fans who will buy Control Ultimate Edition will be getting a free next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox One. However, it will not be the same for the existing console owners.

The Control Ultimate Edition was released on Steam last August 7. It was also released on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this coming September 10. It will come with all the previous expansions and upgrades.

According to its official website, Control Ultimate Edition includes the base game, The Foundation (1st expansion), AWE (2nd expansion), The Expeditions end game mode, Photo Mode, and all the content updates since the game has been released. The Control Ultimate Edition will cost $39.99 on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

It is also confirmed that the digital copies of the Control Ultimate Edition will be released on September 10. The digital version of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will launch at the end of 2020, while the physical one will arrive in early 2021.

Remedy Entertainment is unable to ship the physical and digital editions at the same time due to various production reasons caused by the global coronavirus pandemic.

Alongside the announcement, the developers also confirmed that the console version of the Ultimate Edition will receive a free digital upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, those who already own the game on the console will not.

The game’s edition product FAQ made it clear that the free upgrade path to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series version of Control is only available for Control Ultimate Edition.

Control is a supernatural action-adventure video game from Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games. It was first released on August 27, 2019, for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
