Crytek Teases Crysis 2 Remastered

Gaming Studio Crytek seemingly teases fans with a possible announcement of Crysis 2 Remastered. It all started when Crytek’s official Twitter account published a tweet on May 20. The tweet says a famous line from Crysis 2.

“They used to call me Prophet,” the tweet says. This sentence is a phrase from Major Laurence “Prophet” Barnes in the 2011 game. Then another tweet came which shows a screenshot from Crysis 2. This makes it seem like an announcement for an upcoming remaster.

The first game in the series, Crysis, was remastered last year. It is release for PS4, Xbox One, and gaming PC via Epic Games Store on September 18, 2020. But with the possible release of Crysis 2 Remastered, it seems that Crytek has no intention of bringing the Crysis series to next-gen consoles yet, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Crysis 2 is an FPS game where the player assumes the role of Alcatraz, a Force Recon Marine. Similar to the first game, Crysis 2 enables players to customize their weapons and abilities. Alcatraz gains control of the Nanosuit 2.0 from Army Delta Force Officer Laurence Barnes, a.k.a Prophet, in this game. CryNet Systems has been hunting Prophet to retrieve this suit, pursuing Alcatraz, believing that he is Prophet.

The game takes place three years after the first game. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic New York City after an alien infestation. At the start of the game, the players learn about the “Manhattan ” virus outbreak. This gruesome disease causes the complete cellular breakdown of humans. It is followed by the alien invasion of a squid-like alien race known as the Ceph. Alcatraz must find a way to survive in this setting with her Nanosuit 2.0 and become the weapon humanity needs.
