North America’s biggest anime and Japanese culture convention was last July 4th weekend, stretching from July 1st to July 4th. Our team from CyberPowerPC had a booth in the exhibition hall where we showed off some of our systems, virtual reality games, as well as our special Re:Zero decal system. We also gave away several prizes on Twitter throughout the four days such as Hyper X headsets, signed TSM keyboards and mousepads, as well as many more.

Spectacular Attendance

With over 100,000 people attending Anime Expo, the sheer amount of people at the event was impressive. By simply walking to either the exhibition hall or entertainment hall you would have to go through a sea of people. It goes without saying that the traffic, parking, and food lines around the LA Convention Center where the event was held were horrible. However, with that many people it was exciting to meet new people interested in a wide range of anime and gaming. Our audience cooperative phone game brought several groups of people together to play a game similar to Cards Against Humanity, with one caveat. Players could write whatever answer they wanted to rather than having to play an answer on a card.

Merchandise Everywhere

Even if you are not into anime in particular, there was still a lot of gaming merchandise as well as anime goods available at the whole event. The exhibition hall where we were had thousands of booths selling anything from wall scrolls to plushies and more. In the entertainment hall, gaming was a big focus with Blizzard setting up a huge exhibit there for Overwatch. For those more interested in fan art and trading card gaming, the Artist Alley featured a large area for both.

Panels and Concerts

For anyone with a deeper interest in anime or a particular topic, the convention had numerous panels and concerts to attend. The big event of the expo was the Anisong World Matsuri concerts with the Japan Kawaii Live featuring some of the top idol groups from Japan as well as the Japan Super Live with some of the top singers and artists. The panels came in a wide variety with anything from industry panels where fans could ask their questions to interest panels for a specific topic or show.

One Last Thing

Although Anime Expo has already ended, we still have one surprise for everyone. We will be raffling away the Re:Zero decal system in the near future. Even for those who haven’t watched Re:Zero (you should by the way) the system contains some of the best components such as the GTX 1080 graphics card as well as other top of the line parts. We will be posting the giveaway link on our Twitter and Facebook when we’ve created the giveaway, so make sure to watch those notifications for when the giveaway becomes available.
