Diablo 4 Lead Designer Joel Shely confirmed that the upcoming Blizzard game will have cosmetic microtransactions, similar to those in the shooter game, Overwatch.

The confirmation happened during the BlizzCon 2019 when a Twitch streamer asked Shely on how Blizzard will monetize Diablo 4.

Shely answered that Diablo 4 will be available as a base game, and is going to have expansions later on. Players will also be able to acquire cosmetics in the game.

Although the game is in its early days, Shely said that the cosmetic microtransaction system in the game is on top of seasonal content and expansions.

Aside from that, Shely also talked about the development of an auction system to be featured in the title. In Diablo 4, the only way players will be able to get loot is by killing monsters. So the developers are thinking of introducing an auction system to the game. It will be a tiered system where some items can be tradeable.

Diablo 4 is an upcoming online dungeon crawler RPG game from Blizzard. Although the release date is not yet confirmed, the game is predicted to hit the market in 2020. It will be available for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
