Doom Eternal has finally released the game’s first update, and with it comes some new content updates and quality fixes. One of its notable features is the addition of the Empowered Demons, which players can kill to earn more loot. Other updates include the new Precious Metal Event and a series of quality of life as well as anti-cheat improvements.
Empowered Demons
The addition of Empowered Demons brings new challenges for players to survive in the game. These Empowered Demons are hellish creatures that are buffed after they have successfully killed Slayers. This means that they are stronger and harder to kill than ordinary demons. Another thing about Empowered Demons is that they provide more resources and bonus event XP if killed by the player.
Precious Metals Event
Another new addition to the first update is the Precious Metals Event, which offers players new cosmetics that can be collected as a part of the MC Pain Master Collection. Players can earn the event progress XP by simply playing the Campaign, Battlemode, or by either completing the weekly challenges.
Battlemode Updates
According to the developers, the game’s Battlemode also received a few updates, including quality of life fixes such as:
- new death report
- Prestige stars
- latency fixes
- tag fixes
- better tutorials
- Echelon leveling
- added disciplinary actions
- new indicator for Healing Demon players
- new messaging
New PC Features
The first update also brings the Denuvo Anti-Cheat software when playing Battlemode on PC. This software uses a kernel-mode driver that starts when the game launches and stops when the game is done. This program can be uninstalled by the player any time through their Control Panel.
Single-Player Updates
Quality of life fixes was also added in the single-player campaign. These include the following:
- reduced swimming damaged
- vertical Dash added
- removed difficulty damage scaling for water and slime
- Rad Suit moved in Taras Nabad
- Maykr Drone campaign tutorial added
- increased effectivity of the Plasma Rifle Microwave Mod
