Techland has finally revealed the upcoming free content for Dying Light. As stated before, it will serve as a reward for the “Drink for DLC” campaign.
The free content will start rolling out on February 9 and will give players access to a three-part DLC. The first part will be “The Fountain of Youth,” which features an exploration-based quest located in the Old Town area. Techland also mentioned a new blueprint called “Water 2.0” which will allow players to create a throwable weapon that can intensify the electrocution effect of other in-game weapons. The other two parts will feature two parkour challenges that will be designed around the theme of water.
“The Drink for DLC” campaign was launched last June and was rolled out as an ironic foil to Destiny’s Red Bull marketing promotion. In an official announcement, Techland introduced the “The Drink for DLC” campaign which invites players to take a picture of themselves drinking water and then post it to Twitter with the hashtag, #DrinkforDLC. By joining the campaign, players will be rewarded with free content.
The marketing campaign was a success, and the hashtag reached more than 15 million Twitter users. It also conjured over 15,000 photos of players, doing the challenge.
As stated, the free content will be released this February as part of the Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition or as a free improvements update for the owners of the game.
Dying Light is a first-person horror-survival game from Techland, which was published by Warner Bros. for Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops.
