Bethesda has announced that Fallout 76 BETA will start this October.

Community administrator Jurassica made the announcement on Bethesda’s Fallout 76 discussion forum and noted that people who have pre-ordered the game from participating retailers are the ones who will be included in the B.E.T.A. The team aims to start from a small group of BETA players and grow over time as the developers prepare for its launch.

Jurassica also noted in her post that Bethesda will have a Fallout 76 panel at QuakeCon which will take place on August 10. Bethesda game developers will be attending the panel including Todd Howard, and they will be answering questions about the newest entry to the Fallout franchise.

Fallout 76 was first revealed to the public in a teaser trailer back in May. It was also one of Bethesda’s centerpieces during their E3 2018 press conference along with the announcement and teaser reveal of The Elder Scrolls VI.

Although Fallout 76 is the newest game in the franchise, it is actually set prior to all the previous Fallout games that were released, making it the prequel game. It will also be the first game in the franchise that will feature online multiplayer gameplay, allowing players to play individually or create a party with three other players. And as announced, the game will have a map that is four times bigger than Fallout 4’s.

The game will put the player in the role of a vault dweller who was tasked by the Overseer to explore the wasteland in search of something important. Its environment is modeled on West Virginia and will show recreations of real locations. It is also said that the game will feature new mutated monsters — some inspired by the West Virginian folklore

Fallout 76 will be the ninth game in the Fallout video game series and is scheduled to be released on Microsoft Windows PC and gaming laptop, XBox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 14, 2018.
