It seems that the alien mercenary organization, The Banished, will be a part of Halo Infinite. A new teaser trailer was uploaded on YouTube for the game, confirming this.
The short trailer showed a communication device, deciphering a signal sent from an unknown source. The signal translates to a message from The Banished.
According to the message, the Banished are starting to take control of the ring. And once they do, humanity will burn, and their defiance will be nothing but memories. There will be no Prophets and no more lies.
At the end of the message, the voice declares a mysterious phrase that goes, “We are his will, we are his legacy. We are the Banished.”
After hearing this message, there have been speculations that The Banished update means that Atriox might come back to the series. For those who don’t know, Atriox is the Jiralhanae leader of the Banished that was introduced in Halo Wars 2.
Atriox is a Warmaster who initially fought on behalf of the Covenant but was then banished after thwarting his execution. Due to his leadership and combat skills, many aliens decided to fight alongside him and join his cause.
The Banished is known as a mercenary organization that rebelled against the Covenant Empire. They rose to power after the Human-Covenant war. This organization is made up of the Jiranlhanae race, Grunts, Elites, and Hunters.
In Halo Wars 2, the Banished is one of the two playable races aside from the Human UNSC. So it is largely possible that the plot of Halo 2 may be correlated with the new Halo Infinite.
No further details have been revealed yet. But there have been rumors that the developer will release more info about The Banished inclusion on Halo Infinite at the next Xbox Series X event. The event will also showcase first-party games that will be available to play on the upcoming console.
