A couple of updates will be coming to Hearthstone, including a brand new mode and a game expansion.
Hearthstone Duels – Game Mode
The brand new mode that will be introduced in the game is called Hearthstone Duels. It features the build-as-you-go deckbuilding gameplay that has been popular across the game’s Solo Adventures and lets you duel other players. The Hearthstone Duels is structured like the arena, so players must strive to get 12 wins, with three losses ending the run.
In this game mode, the player chooses a hero and builds their starter deck of 16 cards to take into the run. Every time the player wins, he can choose between different options to add cards to their decks. In each season, the heroes, their powers, treasures, and card pool will change.
For the debut season, the theme is called Wizard Duels. The first ten heroes will be pulled from the Scholomance Academy expansion. Season 1 will also feature Basic and Classic sets such as the Curse of Naxxramas, the One Night in Karazhan, and the Scholomance Academy. The Duels mode beta will officially launch on November 17.
Madness at the Darkmoon Faire – Expansion
The new expansion is called the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire and will feature the Old Gods’ return as new legendary cards. The expansion will also include the four Old God Artifacts, which are inspired by the original Old God card designs from the Whispers of the Old Gods.
There will be 135 new cards in this expansion. It will also introduce a new feature called Corrupt. Cards with Corrupt can be upgraded by the player while in hand by playing a card of a greater cost than the corruptible card first.
The Madness at the Darkmoon Faire will be launched on November 17 for gaming PC and console. The first bundle will be available at $39.99, including 45 card packs, one legendary card, N’Zoth card back, as well as early access to Hearthstone Duels. The Mega Bundle costs $79.99 and will include 80 card packs, one random golden legendary card, N’Zoth Warlock Hero, N’Zoth card back, Battleground perks, and early access to Hearthstone Duels as well.
