How to Build a Gaming PC for Sniper Elite 5

Sniper Elite 5 is the latest installment in the award-winning video game series, released last May 26, 2022. The game features unparalleled sniping, tactical third-person combat, and an enhanced kill cam. To build a gaming PC for Sniper Elite 5, you can use this guide to help you.

Here’s are the steps on how to build a gaming PC for Sniper Elite 5:

  1. Check the PC system requirements for Sniper Elite 5.
  2. Choose an Intel CPU Core i5-8400 or equivalent for your processor.
  3. Use 16GB RAM or higher.
  4. Pick a DirectX12 capable GPU with 6GB VRAM
  5. Use a 1TB SSD for your storage device.
  6. Install Windows 10 operating system.
  7. Install Microsoft DirectX 12 on your PC.

1 – Check the PC system requirements for Sniper Elite 5.

The Sniper Elite 5 has two PC system requirements: (1) minimum and (2) recommended. When building a gaming PC, it’s better to follow the specifications listed on the recommended list as it has better hardware and software suggestions. On the other hand, minimum requirements are only used to check if your current PC unit can run the game.

To get a better grasp on the difference between the two PC requirements, check the lists below:

Minimum System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Processor/CPU: Intel CPU Core i3-8100 or equivalent
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics/GPU: DirectX12 capable GPU with 4GB VRAM
  • Storage: 85 GB of available space

Recommended System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10
  • Processor/CPU: Intel CPU Core i5-8400 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics/GPU: DirectX12 capable GPU with 6GB VRAM
  • Storage: 85 GB of available space

These PC system requirements need a unit that runs a 64-bit processor and operating system.

2 – Choose an Intel CPU Core i5-8400 or equivalent for your processor.

Your PC unit’s CPU or processor is the hardware responsible for executing instructions that comprise a software program. It means that your PC unit won’t be able to run any programs without the processor, even the operating system itself. So when building a gaming PC, you need to choose the right CPU or processor.

To play the Sniper Elite 5, the recommended CPU is an Intel CPU Core i5-8400 or equivalent. The Intel Core i5-8400 has 6 cores and 6 threads with a max turbo frequency of 4.00 GHz. It supports Intel Optane Memory, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, and Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology.

However, the Intel i5-8400 is already a discontinued model. We recommend a better CPU choice is the Intel Core i7-12700K. This 12th Generation Intel processor was just launched last year. It has 12 cores and 20 threads of maximum performance and offers a max turbo frequency of 5 GHz.

The processor also supports more Intel technology software and features to optimize its performance and speed. The Intel Core i7-12700K costs start at $376.99 MSRP.

3 – Use 16GB RAM or higher.

The RAM of your gaming PC is what stores the program currently running in your unit so it can be accessed quickly. The more apps your unit is running, the more RAM you’ll need to install in your unit. Mostly, a 16GB RAM will be enough for a unit. It is also the recommended RAM amount to play Sniper Elite 5.

However, if you want a faster gaming PC, then you might opt to add more RAM to your unit. A 24GB RAM will be able to run heavy work-load games, but if you want to stream while playing, then we definitely recommend a 32GB RAM setup.

4 – Pick a DirectX12 capable GPU with 6GB VRAM.

When it comes to its GPU or video graphics card, the Sniper Elite 5 requires a model that is DirectX12 capable with 6GB VRAM. The Microsoft DirectX12 is programmed to amplify gaming graphics, featuring technology such as DirectX Raytracing, Variable Rate Shading, Mesh Shaders, and Sampler Feedback.

The NVIDIA RTX 30 is DirectX12 capable. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 has 8GB Memory and costs $249 MSRP. This is the most affordable GPU model in the series. However, if you have more budget, you can opt to buy the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, which offers 10/12 GB Memory with a 1.71 GHz Boost Clock. It costs around $699 MSRP.

5 – Use a 1TB SSD for your storage device.

You can use two types of storage devices in your gaming PC: (1) HDD and (2) SSD. HDDs are hard disk drives that are bulkier and larger and are built with a mechanical disk to operate and read-and-write programs to store it. SSDs, on the other hand, are smaller devices used in modern gaming PC builds. SSD works faster and will help boost the performance of your gaming PC.

When choosing an SSD for your unit, opt for a 500GB or 1TB SSD unit. This will provide a large amount of storage space for your video games and programs. Sniper Elite 5 alone requires an 85 GB available space. The best brands of SSD in the market include Kingston Fury, Samsung, WD Black, SK Hynix, and Crucial P5.

6 – Install Windows 10 operating system.

Sniper Elite 5 requires a Windows 10 operating system. There are three types of Windows 10 OS you can buy in the market: (1) Windows 10 Home, (2) Windows 10 Pro, and (3) Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. Since we’re talking about a personal gaming PC, the Windows 10 Home is a perfect choice. It is designed for home computers and gaming and is suited for everyday tasks you need for a home PC to perform. Plus, the Windows 10 Home only costs $139.

7 – Install Microsoft DirectX 12 on your PC.

Another software you need to have in your system before running Sniper Elite 5 is the Microsoft DirectX12. As stated above, you need a GPU capable of running DirectX12. The program is designed for users to experience amazing graphics effects the developers have added to the game.

The Microsoft DirectX12 delivers features including ray tracing and variable rate shading to bring games to life with ultra-realistic visual effects and faster frame rates. You can download DirectX 12 from Microsoft’s official website.
