How to Fix the Black Screen Issue of Tower of Fantasy

Source: Steam.com

Tower of Fantasy is a new MMORPG making noise online due to its anime-inspired graphics and cyberpunk fantasy style. It is currently being compared with Genshin Impact, another anime-inspired RPG. While Tower of Fantasy is a great game because it’s a newly released one, it isn’t free of bugs and errors yet.

One of the game’s current issues is the black screen, which is usually caused by some kind of graphical error the program suddenly encounters. It may also occur when something goes sideways as your PC attempts to load up the game’s graphic elements.

Fortunately, it can be fixed if you encounter this black screen issue. This article will guide you on how to fix this issue.

  • Check if your PC is compatible with the game.
  • Press Alt+Tab simultaneously.
  • Restart Tower of Fantasy.
  • Download any game updates.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • Disable firewall or antivirus.
  • Repair the game files.
  • Uninstall and install the game.

1 – Check if your PC is compatible with the game.

Before anything else, you must ensure that your PC is built to run the game. You can do this by checking if your hardware specifications meet the minimum system requirements for the game. If it does not, it’s bound to have issues even if you’ve managed to install and run the game.

Here are the minimum system requirements for Tower of Fantasy:

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 or equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 25 GB available space

Here are its recommended system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7
  • RAM: 16 GB RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 30 GB available space

If your current PC system meets the minimum system requirements set by the game developers, proceed to the next steps.

2 – Press Alt+Tab simultaneously.

Sometimes, a seemingly severe issue such as a black screen can easily be fixed by pressing Alt + Tab and exiting the game window. Wait a few seconds, then click the minimize game window to re-run it. This should instantly fix the problem most of the time and is the most straightforward solution players have as of now.

3 – Restart your gaming PC.

If pressing Alt + Tab simultaneously doesn’t work, try to exit the game and restart your gaming PC. This will close any processes that may have been interfering with the game files. This process is usually sufficient enough to fix the black screen issue. But if not, then we still have a couple of fixes you can try below.

4 – Download any game updates.

Since the game is still new, developers will often release updates containing fixes for issues that players have reported or identified by their developers. So make sure to check and download the latest updates Tower of Fantasy has. One of these updates may include their fix for the black screen issue.

Aside from the game, you should also ensure that your operating system and hardware drivers are updated.

5 – Check your internet connection.

Another thing that may be causing the black screen issue when you running Tower of Fantasy lies with your internet connection. Before running the game, ensure your internet connection is working correctly. Using WiFi, you can move your setup closer to your router or switch to an ethernet connection to make it more stable.

6 – Disable firewall or antivirus.

Another cause of your black screen issue is when your firewall or antivirus interrupts some of the game’s executable files. This can cause your PC to instantly block the game from running, thus resulting in a black screen issue.

You can instantly fix this by adding Tower of Fantasy to your whitelist. This will stop your antivirus and firewall programs from blocking the game. If this doesn’t fix the problem, try disabling the programs and re-running the game. If the game runs smoothly without further issues, you have identified the source of the problem.

7 – Repair the game files.

Another fix you can do is to repair the game files. There are instances when an update that is not installed correctly can corrupt your game files. Fix this by verifying the integrity or repairing the game files.

There are currently two ways to repair the Tower of Fantasy game files. If you have directly installed the game from the official website, and are using the game launcher, go to the Game Settings. Click Repair. Once done, re-run the game and check if everything is working fine.

However, if you used Steam to download the game, follow the steps below:

  • Go to Steam.
  • Find Tower of Fantasy in your Library section.
  • Right-click and click Properties from the menu.
  • Click Local files and select “Verify integrity of game files….”
  • Wait for the process to finish, and reload the game to see if the issue persists.

8 – Uninstall and install the game.

If nothing seems to be working, then the best thing you can do is to uninstall the game and reinstall it. This often fixes any issues your system is encountering with the game. You can also contact Tower of Fantasy customer service for tips.
