The Hitman game developer, IO Interactive, has finally announced a new James Bond game called Project 007.
The new game was announced in a teaser trailer with IO Interactive, describing it as a wholly original James Bond story. The developers further added that players will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent, James Bond, so they could earn their 00 status in this game. This makes the game the very first James Bond origin story.
The game is currently in active development for consoles and gaming PC. Project 007, as they called it, will be created under IO Interactive’s own Glacier game engine. Glacier is the same engine used for the recent Hitman games. As of now, it is not clear what kind of game Project 007 will be. But experts said that it will most likely have the same stealth and espionage gameplay the previous Hitman games have.
Project 007 is also being developed in collaboration with Bond movie studios, Eon Productions, and MGM. And as of now, there are no release dates or actors announced for the game.
According to IO CEO Hakan Abrakin, “creating an original Bond game is truly a monumental undertaking for their team.” He also said that he believed that working closely with their creative partners at EON and MGM will deliver something really special for their players and communities. He also said that their team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic Bond universe and develop the most ambitious game in IO Interactive history.
IO Interactive is also recruiting for the project in its Copenhagen and Malmo studios. In other news, IO Interactive’s Hitman will come to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and gaming PC on January 20. It will also be released later on to Nintendo Switch as a cloud game.
