After the conclusion of last weekend’s semifinals match, the Spring 2018 LCS Finals will be played this weekend. The two teams who will be playing are Team Liquid, who beat Echo Fox, 3-1, and 100 Thieves, taking down Clutch Gaming in a close 3-2 victory. The finals comes in the wake of tragic news for Team Liquid’s Doublelift, but he has decided to still continue playing this weekend. The finals will be played at sunny, Miami, Florida at the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Semifinals Matches

Despite the tragic events occurring for Doublelift, he put on an MVP performance in the semifinals for his team. His total combined score throughout the four games was 29-2-21, for a whopping 25 KDA. In fact, the only game he died on was the game they lost and he still put on an 8-2-5 performance. The four games between Liquid and Echo Fox proceeded relatively in the same fashion with the winning team being slightly behind for the earlier part of the game and eventually winning several team fights and objectives to snowball into a win. The 100 Thieves versus Clutch Gaming was a gruesome back and forth that was exciting for viewers to watch. The teams traded games with 100 Thieves winning the first game. The final game was a nail-biter to watch as the match went on for over 70 minutes as the lead swung back and forth. In the fifth game, the lead swung a total of 9 times throughout the match exploding in a dramatic team fight as 100 Thieves were able to wipe out Clutch after 70 minutes.

Finals Matchup

Without a doubt, Doublelift is on fire despite the unfortunate events that occurred. If he continues to perform as strongly, 100 Thieves will need to find some firepower of their own to counter him. In the semifinals matches, 100 Thieves did look slightly weaker than Liquid with them struggling with the much lower ranked, Clutch Gaming, while Liquid took down the higher seeded, Echo Fox. However, 100 Thieves did finish as the first place team of the Spring 2018 Split, a testament to their abilities to win.
