Supermassive Games has announced the release date for their second entry on The Dark Pictures Anthology. Little Hope will be available on October 30, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and gaming PC.
Little Hope follows the first entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Man of Medan, which was released in 2019.
The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is a horror survival interactive drama video game. It can be played on through solo or online with four other players via its shared-story multiplayer system.
The game follows the story of four college students and their professors who become stranded in an eponymous fictional town after their bus crashes. It takes place in New England, where an infamous history of witch-hunting which took place in 1692.
College students Taylor, Angela, Andrew, Daniel, and their professor John decide to explore the town. As the story progresses, the group witness the execution of a group of settlers from the past who look like them. The players must now find their connections with these settlers and piece together the history of the town. But upon doing so, they soon discover the root of the evil.
In Little Hope, the players need to choose different dialogue options that will influence the course of the game’s narrative. The dialogue options will also affect the player’s relationships with other characters.
Supermassive Games also confirmed that the game can be played multiple times since it has multiple endings. This will also allow players to discover multiple scenarios based on the decisions that the players make.
Everything in the story will depend on each player’s choices, and all characters may die by the end of the story.
There will be sequences in the game, which include quick time events, that if players can miss, can lead to dire consequences.
Similar to Man of Medan, Little Hope will feature Shared Story and Movie Night. Shared Story will allow two players to play cooperatively. While Movie Night will allow up to five players to choose their own characters and pass the controller in each turn.
