Mine-O-Rama 2014 Postponed

The internet is abuzz today with news that Mine-O-Rama 2014 has been postponed. Outrage set across twitter and youtube as organizers of the event, which has sold over 3,000 tickets (some estimates report as much as 10,000 tickets were sold) to fans and content creators of Minecraft, announced that the event would be postponed at the last minute. Originally scheduled for this weekend July 12-13 at Piers 92/94 in New York city, tickets for event went on sale in January at a price of $200 per head.

Although the event organizers have promised that the event has indeed been postponed and not cancelled, and that already-purchased tickets will still be valid for the to-be-announced rescheduled date, the short notice given to attendees that have already made travel and accommodation reservations has lead to many calling the whole thing a scam. As of this writing there does not appear to be a way for disgruntled ticket holders to request their money back.

Several members of the Minecraft community have been vocal about the ordeal, including CYBERPOWERPC-sponsored streamer ZombiUnicorn, who is currently attempting to organize a meetup for the Minecraft-faithful who make the trek to NYC despite the postponement. She joins a list of many prominent YouTubers who will still be hosting fan meetups.

We’ll be following this story as it develops and will post updates on our facebook and twitter pages.
