The long-awaited Iceborne expansion of Monster Hunter World finally has a release date. In a tweet posted on the Monster Hunter’s official Twitter account, Iceborne is set to be released on PS4 and Xbox One on September 9. Its PC release, on the other hand, would follow this Winter, either by the end of 2019 or by early 2020.
Iceborne’s gameplay was first shown during Sony’s State of Play Showcase last two weeks ago. The video showed not only its gameplay but also the new and returning monsters that will be featured in the game. Aside from that, the gameplay reveal also showed fans and players the new snow mechanic and the Palico ability.

The gameplay trailer started off by giving us a glance of the brand new snowy biome. It was then followed with a battle sequence of an antlered moose-like monster similar to the Duramboros, and a shark-like monster that has razor-horn and can burrow itself into the ground. The video also showed the return of the Monster Hunter Nargacuga and introduced us to the new Elder Dragon Velkhana. By the end of the trailer, fans were surprised to see the latest ability featured in the game called “Palico,” allowing players to revive themselves.
Aside from the gameplay trailer, there were no other details revealed during the State of Play. However, it is teased that a Monster Hunter live stream will be done for the developers to further discuss the game.
