Capcom has released the company’s earnings reports on October 29, showing incredible stats including a 28.5% increase in their net sales and an operating income of 110.1% from the first fiscal half of 2018.

The staggering revenue increase was thanks to the success of Monster Hunter: World, which was released on January 26 for PlayStation 4 and XBox One. It was then released for Microsoft PC and gaming laptops in August 2018. By the end of September, the recorded net sales were up to 43.3 million yen while their operating income was up to 10.5 million yen. Both sales records were the highest sales ever been recorded at the end of the second quarter.

As of the moment, Monster Hunter: World has already shipped 10 million copies worldwide, a first for any single-title game in Capcom’s history. Profits even climbed higher after Monster Hunter: World was released for PC through Steam.

Not only that, but Capcom also released Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for Nintendo Switch, which added more profits to the franchise.

Monster Hunter: World has become so popular that an upcoming movie is now in the making based on it, starring Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, and Ron Perlman. It focuses on the journey of a United Nations military team which falls into an alternate dimension, filled with giant monsters that they have to fight off.

The movie is set to be shown in late 2019 or early 2020. It is written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, and is produced by Capcom, Constantin Film, and Impact Pictures.
