Jax
Jackson “Jax” Briggs is a cybernetically-enhanced soldier that was first introduced in Mortal Kombat II. He is also the leader of the Outer World Investigation Agency, a Special Forces Unit in Earthrealm. In the game, Jax uses his physique and strength to crush his enemy’s head and shake the ground with a single punch. His cybernetic implants also feature portable missiles and a piston-like mechanism that he uses to increase the force of his blows. His fighting style combines Muay Thai and Judo.
Kung Lao
Kung Lao was once a Shaolin monk and a member of the White Lotus Society, a society that looks for capable fighters to defend Earthrealm. In the game, Kung Lao possesses abilities similar to his ancestor, Liu Kang. He’s also known for using his hat to instill fatally and amputating blows to his enemies. Aside from his hat, he also uses a Battle Axe and Broadsword as his primary choice of weapons. His fighting style is a combination of Mantis, Shaolin Fist, Kenpo, and White Lotus.
Liu Kang
Liu Kang is one of the few original characters that was introduced in the first arcade game. He was the Grand Champion of Mortal Kombat for the first four tournaments, making him one of Earthrealm’s greatest warriors. His primary choice of weapons includes the Dragon Sword and Nunchaku. His fighting style, on the other hand, combines Jun Fan, Karate, Jeet Kune Do, Pao Chui, Choy Lay Fut, Monkey, and Dragon.
Aside from these three characters, two more characters will be added in the game as part of a future DLC according to NetherRealm Studios. These two characters are said to be Shao Khan and Shang Tsung. But no further details were released yet.
