Summary and Back Story
After Sombra was released on November 8th last year, there was a brief lull before Blizzard announced that Overwatch’s 24th hero, Orisa, would be available on March 21st. Orisa was originally one of Numbani’s defense robots as part of the OR15 program. After an attack on the city by Doomfist, most of the robots were destroyed and the rest were sold off. Orisa’s parts were purchased by Efi Oladele, an eleven year old genius, who reconfigured the parts and added a personality core to create Orisa. Orisa’s duty is as it has always been, to serve and protect Numbani.
Gameplay
Although it is still early days, Orisa will fall into the tank class and will operate on the front line to protect her teammates from damage. Her primary weapon is her Fusion Driver which deals damage, but slow her down whenever she fires. Her main tank abilities are Fortify and Protective Barrier, the first of which reduces the damage she takes while Protective Barrier shields her and her allies from damage. Her other non-ultimate ability, Halt! is similar to a gravity field due to the fact that when she detonates it, it slows and pulls nearby enemies towards the explosion. Her ultimate is Supercharger which is a supportive item that boosts her teammates’ attack power who are in Orisa’s line of sight.
Orisa should be played as a supportive tank, due to the effectiveness of her kit allowing her to set up her allies for success. Halt! combined with Supercharger would be devastating when used together with an area of effect ability from one of her teammates and could easily wipe out the enemy team. Her Fortify and Protective Barrier allows her to stand on the front line while soaking up the damage being thrown at her team.
