Overwatch 2 to be Featured in Blizzcon Online

Overwatch 2

Overwatch players should be excited to know they will only have to wait for a few months to finally have a glimpse of Overwatch 2. Director Jeff Kaplan has confirmed that Blizzard will announce an Overwatch 2 update scheduled for BlizzCon Online this February.

Kaplan talked about the new developer update and confirmed that fans will learn more about the upcoming sequel to Overwatch at Blizzcon on February 19th and 20th. Unlike the usual BlizzCon, which is held in a live fan event in Anaheim, this year, Blizzard will host an all-digital alternative for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other conventions, including PAX and GDC, will also move online.

Overwatch 2 is the sequel to Blizzard’s multiplayer PvP shooter that will expand the lore and universe of Overwatch. The game will introduce new competitive maps, modes, and heroes. In addition to these, there will also be coming to the first Overwatch game for free.

The developer update will also discuss a new free-for-all deathmatch map that is called Kanezaka. It is said to be based on a Japanese location. The Kazenaka is a free map that is currently available for players to test on the PTR.

Overwatch 2 is said to feature both new PVP and PVE modes. These new modes will feature new maps and heroes, as well as a new HUD. Blizzard also confirmed that the game will have a new major engine upgrade. Overwatch 2 will also share the same hero and map pool as the original game. Any hero and maps that will be added to Overwatch 2 will also be added in Overwatch. There will also be a crossplay between the two games for PvP.

Blizzard also confirmed that Overwatch and Overwatch 2 will share the same client. This means that if the player has an account with Overwatch when he buys Overwatch 2 on their gaming PC or consoles, any achievements or cosmetics from the first game will be carried over to the second one. However, any updated appearances of all the current heroes will be exclusive only to Overwatch 2.
