The remake of the popular action game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been delayed. The announcement came via Ubisoft UK’s official tweet. The classic action game’s remake was first revealed in September and had a scheduled release date of January 21, 2021. Now, it has been moved to March 18, 2021.

According to Ubisoft, the reason behind the delay are the complications bought by the worldwide pandemic, COVID-19. In the tweet, Ubisoft explained that although they’re excited to deliver the game and retell the Prince and Farah’s story in a reimagined 11th century Persia, 2020 has been a year like no other. With that being said, they wanted to let the fans know that the developers are taking additional time to work on the game. And according to Ubisoft, their decision is the right call to ensure that they will deliver a remake game that players will enjoy.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is said to be priced at $39.99. it will be released on gaming consoles, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will also be released on gaming PC via Epic Games Store, the Ubisoft Store on Windows, and Ubisoft’s own Uplay. As of this writing, the developers have not yet announced if the remake will have a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X version. However, it will be playable on next-gen consoles via backward compatibility.

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is being developed by teams from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. According to reports, the developers are using the same Anvil engine that brought the Assassin’s Creed game to life. If that’s the case, players might see something similar to Assassin’s Creed Origins. Voice Actor Yuri Lowenthal has also been confirmed to return to the series and lend his voice to the Prince.
