Capcom reveals that as a part of Resident Evil’s 25th Anniversary, the newest game in the series, Resident Evil 8 Village, will include a special multiplayer game. This multiplayer game is called Resident Evil RE: Verse and will be available for free to anyone who purchases the Resident Evil 8 Village.
RE: Verse is a competitive multiplayer mode that puts 4 players together. Each player can play as one of the several iconic Resident Evil characters. The full roster of playable characters hasn’t been revealed yet, but the trailers include known ones like Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine. RE: Verse will also allow players to play as one of the villains, like the Nemesis or Jack Backer from Resident Evil Biohazard.
Other characters that might be available to play in RE: Verse are Ada Wong and HUNK. But as of this writing, there are no details on how many and which characters will be available once the multiplayer game is released.
According to Capcom, Resident Evil RE: Verse best tests for select game ambassadors are set to begin soon. So for players included in the program and are chosen to take part in the beta, they can expect invites in the coming future.
This isn’t the first time that Capcom tried to dabble multiplayer into a Resident Evil game. For those who remember, Resident Evil 3 Remake was released along with a special multiplayer game called Resident Evil Resistance.
Resistance is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that puts 4 players on a map against another player who acts as a mastermind. Resident Evil RE: Verse, on the other hand, appears to have straightforward and combat-based gameplay.
Resident Evil 8 Village is expected to be released on May 7, 2021. It will be published for gaming PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S series. You can now preorder the game in selected stores.
