A small studio formed by a group of former Blizzard developers called Second Dinner is now working on a new Marvel game.
The news came via an official press release that was posted on the studio’s official website. The post stated that the studio has managed to raise a $30 million minority investment from NetEase, which allowed the team to expand and open their own office in Irvine, California.
The Marvel game is said to be in its early stages of development, so as of now, no platforms were announced as of now. But considering the size of the new team, the game may likely be for mobile or gaming PC, unless they added more employees to their roster. Currently, they are looking for a full-time client engineer and technical artist to work on the said project.
Second Dinner was created by the former Hearthstone Executive Producer Hamilton Chu and Game Director Ben Brode nearly eight months ago. Both are the member of the Team 5 Hearthstone Development Team. In their announcement video, Brode talked about the Marvel’s game development and said it was “a sick game,” which prototype they are starting to playtest. He said that they are working on the game for six months now, and are excited about how it will come out.
Hamilton Chu, who’s the current CEO of the Second Dinner, also said that they are having fun testing the prototype. He even joked that the game would be the “best game ever made.”
We’re not sure as to when the game will be released but it’s content will probably be announced before the year ends.
For those who didn’t know, another Marvel game is actually in the works too under Crystal Dynamics, which was announced in early 2017. Later on, Marvel also confirmed that the former Dead Space producer Stephen Barry and Uncharted director Shaun Escayg have joined the project.
With two games in development, we’re pretty sure that Marvel is going to give us good content this year aside from the End Game being released.
