Ubisoft has confirmed that their upcoming ship simulation video game, Skull and Bones, has been delayed again. It has a launch window date sometime between the end of 2022 to the first quarter of 2023.
The announcement came during Ubisoft’s full-year earnings report for 2020. During the report, Ubisoft revealed its line-up of games for 2021. This includes Rainbow Six Quarantine, Far Cry 6, The Division Heartland, Rider Republic, and Roller Champions. Ubisoft, later on, confirmed their plans to delay Skull and Bones from a 2021 release date to 2022/2023.
Skull and Bones Delays
Skull and Bones was first announced during E3 2017 and was originally planned for release in 2018. But due to some circumstances, it was later pushed back to 2019 and then in 2020. The pandemic hit, and most of the games were put on hold.
As of writing this, Ubisoft hasn’t released any further details as to what caused the delay. However, the game’s creative director told in the past that the development team has expanded and decided to pursue a new vision for the game. Skull and Bones is currently being developed by Ubisoft Singapore and is supported by the development teams in Berlin, Kiev, Paris, Chengdu, and the Philippines.
Skull and Bones will be published for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. It is a strategy action-adventure game set in an open-world environment, where players control a pirate captain. Players can choose to go on a single-player campaign and sail to the Indian Ocean, or they can team up with five of their friends to try the PvP gameplay in the Disputed Waters. In this game, players will also be able to collect additional ships and weapons they can install to further improve their ship, including broadside cannons, rockets, and mortars.
