The gamer world couldn’t help but rejoice when Microsoft announced to allow Xbox gamers to play against PS4 and PC players, opening the door to a wider multiplayer network. And if that isn’t enough of a good news, Sony also responded to what Microsoft offered to its console users. Their response? Well, Sony actually welcomed the idea and might go with the same path as Microsoft had.

According to the statement Sony gave to GameSpot: “PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002. We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play.”

The response though doesn’t necessarily point out whether Sony would allow its developers to enable support for XBox One or PC, but it’s clear that Sony fully welcomes the thought and allows its developers to discover this cross-network play. We actually didn’t see this coming until Xbox announced its willingness to support cross-network play for its gamers.

As of now, Microsoft announced the Rocket League will be one of the first games to support the cross-network play. Although gamers would still have to wait until June to know more details in regard the game. This means that gamers who uses gaming laptop or PC can play with Xbox and PS4 players for the first time. Sony also said that if the cross-network play actually become a reality, this will actually be the first time for both Microsoft and Sony consoles to work together, considering the fact that Sony has been supporting cross-platform play between their PlayStation and PC for years.
