After leaks and rumors, Square Enix finally debuted the official full-length trailer of Lara Croft’s newest video game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. A teaser trailer was released last March, followed by the announcement that a full reveal will be coming on April 27.
The newest trailer shows Lara Croft as she maneuvers her way through the dark jungle, disabling armed men and racing her way to the ancient ruins to stop a human sacrifice. Compare to its predecessor, the Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks grim, and seems to tell a forbidding and darker tale. The developers even confirmed it themselves, describing the game as Lara’s darkest hours.

In a short synopsis posted by Square Enix, Lara Croft must face and survive in a deadly jungle, overcome horrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hours. To save the world from the Mayan Apocalypse, Lara must become the Tomb Raider as she is destined to be.
According to the Head of Eidos-Montréal Studio David Anfossi, the Shadow of Tomb Raider will challenge the series’ beloved protagonist, Lara Croft, in new and unexpected ways. He mentioned that the team created a diverse set of skills and combat techniques, as well as new equipment for players to master. These things will serve as necessities for Lara to survive the deadly jungle environments and tombs.
The reboot of The Tomb Raider series served as a monumental success for Square Enix. The first installment was released in 2013 and did a fantastic job in reintroducing the world of Lara Croft. Its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, followed in 2015 and was critically acclaimed by reviewers and gamers, praising its graphics, gameplay, plot, and character development. Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the third installment in the reboot series and was reported to be a critical point to the game’s overall plot. It is in this game where Lara Croft will get the title “Tomb Raider,” and everyone is excited how that will unfold in the game.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s gameplay is expected to be presented at E3 this year. The game is said to be released on September 14, 2018, on PlayStation 4, XBox One, and Microsoft Windows PCs and gaming laptops.
