The long-awaited sequel, Streets of Rage 4, is finally out for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It was released last April 30, and cost around $24.99.
The Streets of Rage 4 is a beat-up video game, and the continuation of Sega’s Street of Rage series, a trilogy of games that was released during the 90s.
The new game is a collaboration between French retro game developers Guard Crush Games, Dotemu, and Lizardcube. Its release marked the first new entry in the series since Streets of Rage 3 was released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1994.
To pay homage to the original games, Streets of Rage 4 will feature playable characters from the original Streets of Rage trilogy. The fun part is the characters will be available in their original pixel art form and come as unlockable characters in the game.
According to the developers, Streets of Rage 4 will also allow players to run the soundtracks from Streets of Rage 1 and 2. The original composers Motohiro Kawashima and Yuzo Koshiro also have contributed to Olivier Derivière’s compositions for the new game.
Streets of Rage 4’s Battle Mode was revealed in the game’s newest trailer The PvP mode will also be returning from the Streets of Rage 2 and 3.
In a press release, the developers stated that the feud-settling battleground is bound to help each rival recognize who truly is Wood Oak City’s finest alley-clearing ruffian. Players will also be able to settle grudges spurred by accidental-friendly strikes during multiplayer sessions.
