2016 was a great year for gaming. Aside from the massive improvement of virtual reality gaming, many games were released this year, and some were the best. And what better way there is to commemorate them other than to put them in a list. Here are the eight best PC games that were released this 2016:
Overwatch
Although called as the most overhyped game release of 2016, one can’t deny the popularity Overwatch has attained shortly after its release last May. It is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game from Blizzard Entertainment. The game puts you into a team of six players, each controlling a unique hero with different movements, skills, and abilities. Its open beta has drawn more than 9 million players worldwide, and by now the game has been recognized as an eSport as well.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine
Blood and Wine were the popular expansion pack for the award-winning game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Like the previous Witcher games, the player takes control of the main character known as Geralt of Rivia as he explores a remote land untouched by war, a place called Toussaint. In this game, you must track down a mysterious beast terrorizing the region. It is the second and the last expansion of The Witcher 3.
Dark Souls III
Dark Souls III is an action RPG game that has been praised by many critics including IGN, PC Gamer, EuroGamer, and much more. Game Informer, on the other hand, described it as a “wondrous combination of majestic boss battles, incredibly layered environments full of secrets, and precise combat.” The game takes its players into an immersive world of epic battles, dangerous missions, and unforgettable journeys.
Battlefield 1
Battlefield 1 is a first-person shooting game from EA DICE and the fifteenth installment in the Battlefield series. It has also been praised for its World War I theme, visuals, and single-player campaign.
World of Warcraft: Legion
The sixth and latest expansion to the MMORPG game World of Warcraft, Legion was first announced during Gamescom 2015 and since then has gained a huge following. That’s why it was no surprise that it had sold 3.3 million copies by its official release on August 30. It was also reported that during the first week of its launch, the number of concurrent players has reached its highest point since 2010.
Dishonored 2
The most-awaited sequel to Bethesda’s 2012 game Dishonored was just released last November 11. This time, it follows the story of Empress Emily Kaldwin as he tries to reclaim the throne and defeat the otherworldly usurper by using an array of supernatural abilities. The players can choose whether to play as Emily or as the previous character, Corvo Attano.

Titanfall 2 won Best Online Multiplayer Game on 2016’s Game Critics Awards.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
The Rise of the Tomb Raider is the most anticipated sequel to 2013’s Tomb Raider, the reboot of the original Tomb Raider franchise.
