Publisher Nacon has announced that their upcoming game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, has been delayed to 2022. The announcement came via a Twitter post, which confirmed the company’s involvement with the game and the developer studio Daedalic.
According to Nacon, their team is forming a fellowship with the developer Daedalic to publish The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. It will be released in 2022 on Xbox and PlayStation, as well as on Nintendo Switch and gaming pc. More details about this game will be released in the future.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum had a 2021 release window when it was first announced in 2019. The first major release date was confirmed in August, but the current pandemic situation might have affected the initial release date.
The game will feature a Gollum-focused adventure, which will include stealth mechanics. According to the lead game designer Martin Wilks, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will feature gameplay that will task players to sneak around levels and take down enemies.
According to the developer, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum mixes with vertical climbing parkour. Wilkes described that the game is something similar to Prince of Persia. It is mostly a non-combat game, wherein Gollum must stealthily take out enemies. However, it will not be easy for the players to pull out these tricks, and they come with big risks for them to carefully consider each encounter. As they mentioned it, Gollum’s strengths will lie in cunning and not in combat.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is just one of the many Lord of the Rings projects in development right now. Amazon is also talking about working on a TV series that takes place a thousand years before The Hobbit. A new book will also be released in June, which will feature never-before-seen Middle-earth writings.
